Grateful

After spending over $40 million and losing all four congressional specials to replace Republicans now serving in President Trumps’ cabinet, Democrats are starting to realize their party is out-of-touch and leadership is outdated. Well, except for Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and DCCC Chair Ben Ray Lujan, with one taking zero responsibility for the party’s losses and the latter claiming to feel “proud.”

Pelosi and Lujan can continue to live in their alternate reality, but below is a REAL (and growing) list of Democrats who admit they are sick of losing:

  • Rep. Tim Ryan:“I Don’t Think People In The Beltway Are Realizing Just How Toxic The Democratic Party Brand Is In So Many Parts Of The Country.”

o  Rep. Tim Ryan Said Attack Ads Featuring Nancy Pelosi Will Make It “A Heck Of A Lot Harder” For Democrats To Win Elections.

  • Rep. Kathleen Rice Said Pelosi’s Time As Leader “Has Come And Gone,” During An MSNBC Interview.

o  On CNN, Rice Called For A “Change In Leadership,” To Reinvigorate The Party.

  • Rep. Filemon Vela: “I Think You’d Have To Be An Idiot To Think We Could Win The House With Pelosi At The Top.”
  • Rep. Seth Moulton:“…It’s Clear That I Think Across The Board In The Democratic Party, We Need New Leadership.”
  • Rep. Bill Pascrell Said “We’re Always Reviewing That, Believe Me,” When Asked If The Caucus Needed A Change At The Top.

BUT let’s be honest – Nancy Pelosi isn’t going anywhere, and we are grateful for that. Every.Single.Day.

BACKGROUND

Rep. Filemon Vela: “I Think You’d Have To Be An Idiot To Think We Could Win The House With Pelosi At The Top.”“But it isn’t only previous Democratic critics of Pelosi who are calling for a change. Rep. Filemon Vela (D-Texas), who supported Pelosi in the leadership election, argued the minority leader had contributed to Democrats’ loss in Georgia. ‘I think you’d have to be an idiot to think we could win the House with Pelosi at the top,’ he told Politico on Wednesday. ‘Nancy Pelosi is not the only reason that Ossoff lost. But she certainly is one of the reasons.’ (Igor Bobic, “Democratic Chatter Grows About Ousting Nancy Pelosi,”The Huffington Post, 6/21/17)

Rep. Seth Moulton: “…It’s Clear That I Think Across The Board In The Democratic Party, We Need New Leadership.”“Rep. Seth Moulton, a Massachusetts Democrat, told CNN his party needed new leadership. ‘Whether she’s a leader or not is up to the caucus to decide,’ Moulton said. ‘But this is something we certainly have to discuss, because it’s clear that I think across the board in the Democratic Party, we need new leadership.’”(Eric Bradner, “Republicans Still Love Nancy Pelosi,”CNN, 6/21/17)

  • Rep. Tim Ryan: “I Don’t Think People In The Beltway Are Realizing Just How Toxic The Democratic Party Brand Is In So Many Parts Of The Country.”“Jon Ossoff’s defeat in Georgia’s special House election — an election Democrats hoped would have been a referendum on President Donald Trump — has renewed some soul searching among its members. In an interview with CNN’s Don Lemon Wednesday, Rep. Tim Ryan criticized his party’s brand, their outreach to voters and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi. ‘The brand is just bad,’ Ryan said. ‘I don’t think people in the beltway are realizing just how toxic the Democratic Party brand is in so many parts of the country.’” (Leinz Vales, “Democratic Lawmaker: Pelosi Is Worse Than Trump In Some Areas Of The Country,”CNN, 6/22/17)

Democracy For America Campaign Manager Alejandro Chavez: “Nancy Pelosi Is Not Where We Need To Go.She’s failed leadership. While she might be doing some great things in her district, the truth is she’s the person who’s been leading this front that we’ve been running on for years, so she has to go as leadership. What she’s doing isn’t working. She’s the leadership, it’s failed and, ultimately, it’s her responsibility.” (Amber Phillips, “‘Nancy Pelosi Is Not Where We Need To Go.’ Why Democrats Lost Georgia, A Progressive story.”The Washington Post6/22/17)

  • “Democrats Were Left Picking Up The Pieces After Spending Millions” Backing Jon Ossoff.“Democrats were left picking up the pieces after spending millions of dollars from the party’s war chest to back a young candidate in a traditionally red district outside Atlanta and pushing hard for their base of supporters from around the country to donate to him too.” (Maryalice Parks and Benjamin Siegel, “Democrats’ Disputes Simmer After Special Election Losses,”ABC News, 6/21/17)
  • Rep. Tim Ryan Said Attack Ads Featuring Nancy Pelosi Will Make It “A Heck Of A Lot Harder” For Democrats To Win Elections.“Asked if Democrats can win in 2018 while GOP groups run attack ads featuring Nancy Pelosi, Ryan said ‘it’s going to make things a heck of a lot harder.’” (Maryalice Parks and Benjamin Siegel, “Democrats’ Disputes Simmer After Special Election Losses,” ABC News, 6/21/17)
  • Rep. Ryan Said, “There’s A Level Of Depression” Among House Democrats And That The National Brand Of The Democratic Party Is “Toxic.”“I don’t like moral victories, I like victories,’ Rep. Tim Ryan, D-Ohio, who challenged House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi in the House Democratic leadership elections last fall, told reporters this morning. ‘There’s a level of depression,’ he said of the mood among Democrats, adding that the national brand of the party is ‘toxic.’” (Maryalice Parks and Benjamin Siegel, “Democrats’ Disputes Simmer After Special Election Losses,”ABC News, 6/21/17)

Rep. Kathleen Rice Said Pelosi’s Time As Leader “Has Come And Gone.”“Rep. Kathleen Rice, D-N.Y., said Thursday that Nancy Pelosi’s time as a leader of the Democrats is over, as Democrats have been stuck in the minority since 2011, and have had no luck picking off Republican seats in special elections so far this year. ‘Nancy Pelosi was a great speaker,’ Rice said on MSNBC. ‘She is a great leader. But her time has come and gone.’ …’I sat in a meeting the other day, and I listened to a rationale as to how we should be happy as a caucus because we didn’t lose as badly… two days ago as we did a year ago,’ she said. ‘But we’re still losing.’” (Pete Kasperowicz, “House Democrat: Nancy Pelosi’s Time Has ‘Come And Gone,’”Washington Examiner, 6/22/17)
